About the artist.

Taja May is a Chicago native who began an independent portfolio career by self-publishing her first novella, Prelude to King, in 2017. It was coined, "The Black Great Gatsby" out of comedic relief to not feeling visible in the world of modern luxury. Through Prelude to King, Taja was able to fulfill a purpose driven passion for literature.

Since— Taja has extended the novel into a blog that encompasses lifestyle, travel, and beauty writing in editorial and short story formats. The "lifestyle" that her writing champions is not one she was born into, but, rather, one that she has cultivated through travel, art, and aesthetics as expression.

As a modern woman, fashion stands at the center of said lifestyle. Taja has extended her work of leisure and luxury into a product that captures the essence of femininity and confidence — intimate wear.

As a brand for the Womxn who are too-often erased from the global picture of luxury and leisure, Taja makes folks of color the center of the softness that she imagines the silk delicates to be.

With an intrinsic value for beauty and learning; and creative writing as her original discipline, Gal et Cetera is an extension of storytelling through garments.
